Knowing where your company’s website falls on keyword searches is an important part of Search Engine marketing. Statistics have proven that generally people click on the first few results, rather than scrolling through pages and pages of results.This blog seeks to analyze and suggest improvements for Illustrated Faith’s rankings in both organic and paid search on two main search engines, Google and Bing.
Below you will find some screenshots taken from Google and Bing to demonstrate the rankings of Illustrated Faith with various keywords. For the first image, the keyword is Bible Journaling, the commonly accepted name for the movement that Illustrated Faith sparked. The second is Faith Art Journaling, another name seen in the movement. The third is a Bing search for Bible Journaling, and the final screenshot is searching the brand name itself, Illustrated Faith.



As you can see, only one term showed ADs, the final term “Illustrated Faith.” We should note this because we will be coming back to it later - for now we are only discussing the natural results, not the paid advertisements.
Analyzing the natural search results for the keywords I chose, I would have to say that the results for their natural search rankings is mixed. Searching the brand brings up very positive results, with Illustrated Faith’s website showing up in the first few slots. But, other terms related to the movement and niche that Illustrated Faith has created, the website is only showing up in the 7th, 8th, or 9th result. They are on the first page of search results, which is important. But being in the first few slots is definitely better, especially since these keyword terms were either coined by Illustrated Faith’s founder, or coined to describe what she was doing.
Improvements can definitely be made in the organic results. I would suggest including keywords like “bible journaling” and “faith art journaling” in the meta tags of each and every page on the website if they are not already there, but these seem to be increasingly disregarded by Google and other search engines. These keywords must also be included in the titles and text of pages on the website, maybe even have a dedicated landing page like “What is Bible Journaling” focused on the subject.
Improvements can definitely be made for paid search as well. The keyword combinations of “Bible Journaling” and “Faith Art Journaling” should either be bid on if they are not, or should have their budget increased since I did not encounter any ads for those two terms, which are closely related to the Illustrated Faith brand. Anyone searching for this term, whether they know it or not, are searching for postings or items influenced by the Illustrated Faith brand.
One thing that I think that Illustrated Faith is doing flawlessly is their social media presence. Their social media account on instagram is particularly active, but they are also a good presence on facebook as well. Their pinterest is also a great resource. Between the three of them, I think they get some great site referrals and a great community is being built.
As far as any improvements, I have little to say here other than there could possibly be a few more videos posted on their Facebook and Instagram pages as videos do very well on social media.
